Soccer KidsOur Y sports programs emphasize sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork; emphasize the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility; keep winning in perspective; enable all participants to play in every game; include family involvement; include coaches and officials training; emphasize safety and age-appropriate progressive skill development; emphasize using volunteers as coaches and officials; and are open to all segments of the community.

Most youth sports are kindergarten through fifth grade with either three divisions (K/1, 2/3, and 4/5) or two divisions (K/2 and 3/5). The K/1 division includes a weekly scrimmage preceded by half an hour of instruction. The 2/3 division includes a weekly game and one weekday practice. The 4/5 division includes a weekly game and two weekday practices.

Second-Chance Youth Coed Basketball (For Boys & Girls, Grades K-5)

Did you miss the regular Y youth basketball seasons? Or do you just want another four weeks of hoops action? New teams, coaches and friends are all a part of Second-Chance Basketball. The program runs for four Saturdays of games, starting March 3 and ending March 24. Registration begins Jan. 9.

The fee is $25 for members or $36 for non-members.

Middle School Boys Basketball (For Boys, Grades 6-8)

This league is for the player wanting to play another four weeks following the middle school season or just playing for the fun of it. The season starts with a combine practice on Monday, Feb. 27, at the Y. Games are played at LaPorte High School and begin Sunday, March 4, and continue through Sunday, March 25. Two practices per week. Registration begins Jan. 9.

The fee is $25 for members or $36 for non-members. All participants receive a Y basketball shirt and awards.

Little Dribblers Preschool Sports (For Boys & Girls, Ages 3-5)

This program introduces preschoolers the FUN-damental skills associated with basketball and soccer. Basic physical and social skills are taught in a class setting, with some game play each week. Parents are encouraged to participate with their child. The first seven-week session begins Feb. 25 and features basketball. The second seven-week session begins April 21 and features indoor soccer. Classes are held Saturday mornings in the Swanson Gym. Children must be preschool age (no kindergarteners). Limited enrollment. Registration begins Feb. 6.

The fee is $36 for members or $54 for non-members. All participants receive awards.

Spring Break Sports Camp (For Boys & Girls, Ages 7-14)

The camp, held April 2-6, runs from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with drop-off from 6-8:30 a.m. and pick-up from 4:30-6 p.m. Activities include swimming, basketball, indoor soccer, floor games and more. Registration begins Feb. 6.

The fee is $80 for members or $115 for non-members.

Spring Youth Coed Soccer (For Boys & Girls, Grades K-5)

Get your kicks with Y-Soccer! Our soccer program teaches tactics and skills of the game, along with rules, traditions and character development. Start the season with a skills clinic on Saturday, March 31. Practices begin the week of April 2. Games start Saturday, April 14, and run through Saturday, May 19. Registration begins Feb. 6.

The fee is $45 for members or $60 for non-members. All participants receive a Y soccer shirt and awards.
