The La Porte County Family YMCA is a leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are a powerful association of men, woman and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of our community.

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Our Y ensures that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, our Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.

Our Y believes that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our community. Every day our impact is felt when a mentor inspires a child, when an individual makes a healthy choice and when the community comes together for the common good.

Our Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities. There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. Be a part of a cause committed to moving people and communities forward.

Giving back and providing support to our neighbors
We know that when we work as one, we move people and communities forward. That's why we are committed to providing support to our neighbors and opportunities for kids, adults and families to help us build a better La Porte County. It is only through the support of our hundreds of volunteers and donors that we are able to do all the things we do.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our dedicated volunteers coach basketball, direct racers at our annual 5K/10K and triathlon, paint walls and raise funds to help make our programs accessible to all who need them. Every year, hundreds of people donate their time and talent to the Y.

Y Scholarship Fund
Our emphasis on making our programs accessible to everyone in the community sets us apart from other fitness facilities. We fundraise for our Y scholarship fund through our Annual Campaign plus special events like Dancing Like a Star and the Vintage Veterans Basketball Tournament.

Horizon Club
The Horizon Club is a group of Individuals who have seen the important role the Y plays in our community and committed to including the Y in their future plans. We are currently working to expand our Horizon Club program to help ensure our organization's continued success for years to come.

We want our community to be as safe as possible. Therefore, the Y offers regular lifeguard and CPR/AED & First Aid certification classes.

Special Events
Through events like the World's Largest Swim Lesson, Healthy Kids Day and Halloween at the Y, we offer local families fun and exciting ways to spend time together. Our annual Five Days of Giving program provides an opportunity for staff and members to give back by donating food, toys, winter clothing and dollars to benefit others in our community.

Teamwork is an essential part of making our community a better place to live and work. Our community partners include schools, hospitals, municipalities and other non-profit agencies. This past summer, we worked with seven different youth-serving agencies to provide water safety lessons to more than 600 area children. We work hard to say "yes" to new opportunities that will meet the needs of La Porte County residents.
