The La Porte County Family YMCA is a leading nonprofit for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are a powerful association of men, woman and children of all ages and from all walks of life joined together by a shared passion: to strengthen the foundations of our community.

With a commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Our Y ensures that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. To do our important work, our Y relies on support from members, donors, volunteers and community leaders.

Our Y believes that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health and our community. Every day our impact is felt when a mentor inspires a child, when an individual makes a healthy choice and when the community comes together for the common good.

Our Y is, and always will be, dedicated to building healthy, confident, connected and secure children, adults, families and communities. There is no other nonprofit quite like the Y. Be a part of a cause committed to moving people and communities forward.

GREAT NEWS UPDATE: We passed the Health Dept water test. The Michigan City Elston Y pool will REOPEN TODAY AT 8AM.

Starting tomorrow, the Elston pool will begin following their regular pool schedule which is a 6 AM open and closing 15 minutes before the Y closes.

Thank you to all of our members and community for your patience these past several months as we worked through this major renovation project. A big thank you goes out to Ron and Gary from the Y facilities crew for all of their hard work this past several months to get the pool back in service, for the beautiful painting, replacing ceiling tiles and working all weekend to make this Monday morning open happen. We also extend a hearty thank you to Dave and John from Michigan City Area Schools/Sodexo plant and planning team for their hardwork throughout this process, particularly last week, and to MCAS administration for their commitment to the Y and the Michigan City community. Finally, a shout out to our aquatics team who worked this weekend to get everything cleaned and ready to go this morning.

In celebration of the pool re-opening, we will be WAIVING the joiner fee on all new memberships this week.
