Pool Rules
1. All swimmers must shower before entering the pool
2. No running on deck
3. No pushing, dunking, being on someone’s shoulders, or rough play in or around the pool
4. No diving in the shallow water
5. Non-swimmers must stay in shallow water
6. Swimmers are to stay off the lane lines and life line
7. Persons having open blisters, cuts, etc. are not permitted in the pool
8. Children under 16 years MUST pass a swim test before entering the deep water
~ Each swimmer that passes the swim test is to be given a wrist band
~ Test must be taken every visit and taken only once each visit
~ If test is failed, child MAY NOT enter the deep end, even with an adult
~ No floatation device can be worn for the test
9. Children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied in the water by an adult.
10. Babies are to be handled by an adult only in the pool
11. Ladders are for entering or exiting the pool, not to be played around or on.
12. No walking or running in the gutters
13. Diving in deep end only: 6 feet or deeper
~ Front jumps and dives only
~ No flips, spins, back dives, or back flips allowed
~ No using of the starting blocks during open swims
~ No running jumps
~ All jumps and dives must start from the blue line in the gutter
14. Patrons must have appropriate swim wear
15. No cut off jeans, gym shorts or sweats
16. No T-shirts to be worn in the deep end
17. Underwear is not swim apparel
18. No food or drink allowed in the pool area
19. YMCA kickboards and pull buoys are for swim classes or private lessons only or they may be used by LAP SWIMMERS during open swim time
20. Only LAP SWIMMERS allowed in the lap lanes during open swim.
21. No children are allowed, unless they are swimming laps and no adult is waiting or using the lane
22. Families are not to congregate in the lap lanes
23. Lap Lanes are for those swimmers who are swimming laps, nothing else!
24. Lap swimmers must share lanes if there are people waiting. They are to use the ‘circle swim’ method so that more than one swimmer at a time can use the lane. Have them swim along the lane lines in a circular pattern so as not to run into other swimmers
25. YMCA toys, balls, life jackets, fins, etc. are for YMCA swim classes or private lessons ONLY…not to be used by open swim patrons
26. Patrons may bring and use pool toys of their own, but lifeguard has the authority to remove these items if lifeguard has just cause
27. Non-swimming patrons must watch from the pool observation area, not sit in the pool area during open swim times
28. LIFEGUARDS HAVE COMPLETE AUTHORITY IN THE POOL AREA!
